Yale University is a private Ivy League research university in New Haven, Connecticut. Founded in 1701, Yale is the third oldest institution of higher learning in the United States. This is why I was deeply honored to be invited to deliver the keynote address at this college with a rich history of tradition and achievement. With an endowment of US$23.9 billion giving it great capacity, I urged the faculty to broaden its horizons to Kenya and indeed Africa. I believe such a partnership would be of great benefit to Kenya and by extension Africa keeping in mind that Yale has graduated many notable alumni, including five U.S. Presidents, 19 U.S. Supreme Court Justices, 13 living billionaires and many foreign heads of state. 52 Nobel laureates have been affiliated with the University as students, faculty, or staff and it is my belief that Kenyan youth can join these ranks of high achievers given the chance at quality higher education.
