Yasir Reshi has Rs 15 Cr property, Altaf 8 Cr, Majid Rs 3 Cr Ishfaq Naseem Srinagar, Nov 10: Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate from Sonawari, Yasir Reshi, is richer than even the Ministers in the NC-Congress coalition government. In his election affidavit, Reshi has disclosed that his property is worth nearly Rs 15 crore, including both movable as well as immovable assets. Besides owning nearly 100 kanals land in Sonawari at different places, he has invested heavily in insurance policies and the jewelry of his wife is worth Rs 97 lakh. The cost of the land that the PDP candidate owns is near Rs 13 crore. He also has insurance policies worth Rs 22.5 lakh. In the financial year 2012-13, Reshi disclosed an income of Rs 14.9 lakh in his income tax returns. On the contrary Reshi’s rival and Minister for Higher Education, Mohammad Akbar Lone, has assets worth Rs 7.5 crore only including the houses and agricultural land that he owns in his hometown at Sonawari. Major portion of Rs 5.5 crore are the assets which have been inherited by Lone. Forest Minister and NC candidate from Kangan, Mian Altaf Ahmad, has disclosed that his assets including bank deposits and land and houses are worth nearly Rs 8.2 crore. The Minister owns 153 kanal of land in Kangan and has bank deposits running into lakhs of rupees. Altaf has revealed in the election affidavit that he has purchased major portion of the land in 2006, and the market value of the property has increased over the years and is of near Rs 7.5 crore currently. Former Minister and Congress candidate from Bandipora, Usman Majeed, besides owning high-end vehicles and has his assets including land and buildings worth over Rs 2.65 crore. Usman owns sports vehicle Pajero, which costs over Rs 25 Lakh, and he has disclosed that most of the assets that he owns have been raised by him. His wife also owns Fortuner and Scorpio vehicles and the cost of her movable assets including that of jewelry runs into Rs 2.07 crore. The PDP Ganderbal candidate and former Minister, Qazi Afzal, has shown the value of his assets including land and house at near Rs 1.5 crore, while as his rival from National Conference, Ishfaq Jabbar, is better poised when it comes to the value of the property and has disclosed it to be worth over Rs 2 crore including a double-storied house and the land.
