Years ago, I would buy Halloween candy early, but only purchase brands that I did not like. Yet, somehow I quickly developed an affinity for candy I had never ever liked. (You know, all those stragglers sorted into a different pile Halloween night and left at the bottom of your candy stash for weeks after Halloween.) So the last several years I settled into buying candy late in the season. Yesterday afternoon, I went to Walmart only to discover there was no Halloween candy to be had--only Gingerbread Twix, ornament shaped Snickers, and red and green M&Ms. And I was not the only Halloween shopper taken by surprise. Without much time left, I purchased the Christmas candy, just in case. Murphys Law. Found appropriate treats elsewhere. So now I am stuck not only with Halloween leftovers, but also Christmas candy that will be beckoning to me for nearly two months. Alas!
