Yes, I am beautiful! |Motlatsi Bernardino via Nanda Bezerra This month, for the first time, I posted photographs on my Instagram account. Something very interesting happened when I was looking for pictures to post. I saw one of my photographs and I thought how beautiful I was in the picture. This is something very rare, because it is very difficult that I actually like any photographs of myself. (This will change!!!) For just one moment… one second… I thought, ‘’How beautiful!’’ That was it! The criticism began, ‘’Beautiful? No way! Just look at your hair, look at your chubby cheeks!’’ The criticism carried on like this. If it were a few days ago, I would’ve let this criticism put me down, but I am learning to love and appreciate myself. So I kept this negative voice quiet straightaway! I decided that yes, I was beautiful in that photograph and not only that picture, but in many more, and inside too! Enough of this criticism!!! When we admire ourselves, many times it seems as if we are being proud, doesn’t it? But why should this be so? It is easy for us to criticise ourselves, so why can’t we admire ourselves with the same “ease”? This is what prevents many people from being baptised with the Holy Spirit. They seek Him with sincerity and zeal, but when the time comes to be baptised, they doubt, because they look at themselves in such a negative way that they don’t believe that He wants to baptise them. They feel incapable and unworthy of receiving the baptism. They think, “Oh, who am I? The Holy Spirit will not want to baptise me now, because I still have to change this and that. “Says who? Baptism is by faith, believing in the promise that God has made. He promised, and you believe in His promise. It is nothing more and nothing less than this. But for many, it is hard to believe. If you wait until you actually “deserve” the Holy Spirit, you will never receive Him because we will never deserve Him! It is a gift from God, which He promised. Just seek Him and believe that He wants to baptise you! For those who are already baptised with the Holy Spirit, the constant criticism of yourself prevents you from being used even more. Unfortunately, the Holy Spirit is subject to our spirit. He cannot do more than He is allowed to do. How can He accomplish His plans through us, if we do not believe in ourselves? If we don’t believe in ourselves, how can we believe in Him who has a much greater vision than ours? Every time that He drives us to act, we will always be questioning our ability. I am not a perfect woman. I have shared with you many of my defects here on this blog, but this does not mean that I have to value myself less. I have no right to devalue myself. A great price was paid for me to be here today. Every time I criticise myself and put myself down, I’m ignoring what He has done for me. If I don’t love myself, I can’t win souls. He will always be limited by my doubts. This would be a great injustice! Let’s begin to look at ourselves through the eyes of our Father. When He looks at you, what do you think He is thinking of you? Leave your comment below and share what you think. A big kiss and until next time.
