Yes i Know i keep going on about the Tropicana i have a statement from Sharron Davies MBE . Myself and Rita are organizing a protest to rebuild the Tropicana on the 22nd of September please show your support Please share :) I am really saddened to hear about the closure of the Tropicana. It is a real land mark for Weston Super Mare and I have had the pleasure of using it on a many occasions over the years. I am very surprised the council is taking this stance when we have more children leaving school under 11 not being able to swim 25m than ever before. And more drowning, as recently shown sadly. The closure is also bucking the tend across the country of very successfully regenerating open air swimming pools and lidos, supporting the assurgency of out door swimming for health and fitness, as well as family fun. With its costal position, lack of pools in the area, and strong local support i struggle to understand why this is happening. I hope the councillors will take another look at how they can come up with a sustainable plan that works with the community and tourism, so important to Weston, alike by not closing this very much loved facility.
