Yesterday, 1st July, Israeli soldiers repeatedly detained - TopicsExpress

Yesterday, 1st July, Israeli soldiers repeatedly detained Palestinian men an checkpoint 57 (Gilbert) on Tel Rumeida hill in al-Khalil (Hebron). Palestinians, particularly from the Abu Aisha family, were made to wait for lengthy periods of time (often around an hour) while checks were made. The soldiers also conducted full body searches on most men walking past. This was often aggressive and involved pushing Palestinians up against a wall, kicking their feet to make them spread their legs. At approximately 22:00 soldiers detained Taher Dweik (43), who they accused of failing to comply with a search. The soldiers tied his hands behind his back with a plastic tie. Shortly after this the soldiers pushed him to the other side of the street and onto some stairs causing him to stumble and fall onto them, face down. He was released after around 30 minutes, by which time a group of Palestinians, and ISM activists, had gathered (photos by ISM).
