Yesterday I did an awesome English poetry workshop at the central library as part of the Poetry Slam component of the Open Book Fair. The participants were not only aspiring poets there were people who simply came to be creative. We played games and wrote some really awesome stuff. Every time I do creative workshops it reinforces the notion that people need these workshops, not just because they want to write poetry or do creative writing but simply because it opens a window in the mind and body that so few people get to open in their daily lives. I believe it puts our health at risk to live without this window being opened. At the end of September I will be doing a 6 week creative course which will not just be around creative writing. We will do exercises that exercise different parts of the brain and enhance openess, left/right brain functions, open the gates of your fun bone. Hope some of you will be able to make it.
