Yesterday I posted a post concerning the manual trannies and had received few technical questions, unfortunately I cant find the post, but I had received the questions by email. Anyhow, here are the answers; 1- Concerning the question regarding the noise when the engine is idling and the noise goes away when the clutch is pushed; my first guess will go to the throw-out bearing. This is my first guess because the mechanism is as follow; the throw-out bearing is connected to a slave cylinder and it pushes against the clutch plate whenever you release the clutch pedal. So when the clutch pedal is pushed it will get disengaged from the clutch plate. And when it is engaged, it will spin so it will make the noise you are hearing now. On the other hand, when you disengage it, it will not be moving, so there will be no noise. Usually whenever you change the throw-out bearing it will be a good chance to inspect all the other items such as the clutch and do the necessary service to avoid doing the job twice within short time. 2- Concerning the overheating Auto tranny, As one of the other fellows suggested, get an Auxiliary cooler fit in the same logic as Abu Jimmy explained and you will be good to go, but it will be a good idea to check the current coolant level and conditions. Moreover, I suggest to change the tranny oil as a precaution, as it is almost burned now after it got overheated and lost its hydraulic and lubrication characteristics. 3- About how to make sure that your Jeep is in safe hands, this thing I cant comment at it, as even myself, I can be fooled by tricky mechanic, but in general, in UAE there are lots of good/competent mechanics you can rely on, and the dealership is one of them, so it is your car and your choice where you plan to fix your car.
