Yesterday, I received what is probably the most heartfelt gift Ive - TopicsExpress

Yesterday, I received what is probably the most heartfelt gift Ive ever been given. I believe in kindred souls on this earth, and I know several who I very much feel connected with. They are the ones who look a little deeper into anothers soul. They are the very small group that listens to hear rather than to respond (believe me, that is a very small group). One such person is Annette Probst Downey. I didn;t really know how she found me when she came into my life, but I should have known that our Troy was behind it. He is the reason for several very special friendships I have formed with people. He has attracted some very upstanding people, the kind you are proud to call friends. HE has brought a lot of us together. I know there are those of you who are yawning, and I say to you.....have a good nap lol. Im never gonna stop talking about Troy, so dont expect it anytime soon ;) For those of you who dont know, Troy was the most handsome senior Black Lab, w/ the most loving and soulful eyes Ive ever seen. He ended up (through no fault of his own) at the Taylor Animal Shelter, back in the summer of 2012. The first glance I got of him told a story, one of defeat. Who could know at that time that he only had 8 weeks to live. He was suffering from a horrible oral cancer, that grew and grew in that very short time. This dignified boy didnt ask for it, but it was his cross to bear in life. Seeing a dog like this, in this condition at a local shelter made a very heavy impact on me. I knew if this could happen to Troy, that it was happening to animals in shelters everywhere. No animal deserves to take their last breath at the hands of someone who doesnt care, but a senior dog, suffering from cancer, it just seems extra unfair. I found my stength to walk into the RRAS through several, but Troy is the catalyst. TROY is the reason that ANYONE is at the River Rouge Animal Shelter today. TROY is the reason that hundreds there have been saved. Troy not only mattered, but he made magical things happen. It was no accident that we crossed paths. He was sent to me. He has saved 100s of lives, and will continue to do so. That is one impressive extraordinary pound pup :) Annette, had this painting done of him for me. She knows how very special he is to me, and to many. It is amazing! The artist has captured the very essense of who Troy was, which happens to be the most loving gentle soul I had encountered at the time. Only one comes close and that is my Joey. The artist looked at several pictures of him to get a real feel for him, and she mastered it! Thank you Annette, for this treasure of all treasures. It will hang on the very wall where Troys kuranda bed was for the 8 weeks he was here. You have no idea what a speciual gift this is. Well, on second thought, yes you do
