Yesterday... I was standing in line at the grocery store and a little boy no older than 10 wanted a toy of some kind and his mother was telling him no. He kicked the buggy and glared at her and kept kicking it demanding the toy. She was ignoring him for the most part until he kicked it into an ederly lady standing in front of them then she had no choice but to acknowledge his behavior. It skinned her leg and she cried out in pain. He kept on kicking the buggy while his mother said her embarrassed Im sorry routine. The elderly woman looked straight at the mother and said I am a retired school Teacher and back in my day when we were allowed to discipline the children these things hardly ever happened because they knew the consequences and parents took it seriously when their children misbehaved.... especially when it caused someone to get hurt..its a shame now how kids act and its the parents fault. She then looked at the Mother of the child and said...you need to go home and write 500 sentences saying I will teach my child respect for himself and for others...then go to the principles office for your 3 licks and to be expelled because you are raising a child who does not care who he hurts because of his wants...and you allow it...young lady Respect begins at home. Then she looked at the little boy and said are you sorry for kicking me? He said no to my surprise..She said OK then....Im going to pray for you and he said whats that? the elderly woman said if you dont know then your life is going to be one of trouble and problems because you dont know JESUS....and she turned around and looked at the Mother and said and you will suffer the consequences too of his actions because it will hurt you when he gets into trouble because you did not teach him the right way to live....when she left she looked at me as if the old woman had over reacted. I turned to the woman who was clearly embarrassed and told her about some Churches in her area and Vacation Bible Schools that would be good for her kids..and she said I dont have time for all that. She said are you siding with that old woman? I looked at her and said the only side Im on is JESUS side....You need to make time in your life for JESUS..your son needs to know HIM too and I will be praying for you too. The Bible has made it clear about raising Children and HIS ways havent changed..HE also makes it clear that we are to teach our children HIS ways...Just watch the news and listen as they tell about little Children murdering their parents and all kinds of terrible things. Those actions begin at home people and its so important to say No to your children and to help them figure things out. Today the world teaches your Children through games and rebellion and time outs and all the ways the world tries to take away from the Bible... this world belongs to the evil one and that we know for sure. Teach them to love GOD and to pray and to have respect and love for GOD and themselves..they wont get that from television, internet, games and no quality time with you and letting them do what they want....They get that from you and where you take them and how you act at home and who you let them hang around. Its not easy to balance Work and a busy lifestyle...but kids are your number one priority here that GOD gifted you with..this life is not about things you can give them materially...its about Eternal Security and Peace in their life and knowing you loved them enough to take time to teach them that....teach them with hugs and kisses and teach them the WORD so that they will never depart from it.... and above all teach them to love GOD so that they will know how to say NO to this world and yes to Eternal life. And when they need to be disciplined make sure you do it with love not anger because they are our Gift...mama did it with us and we called it the Circle Dance...took us by the hand and switched us in a circle...it taught us to behave and how to dance! lol
