Yesterday, a student posted a doubt on NIT Jalandhar Information Portal. The doubt was, CSE at NITj or IT at IIIT Allahbad. Through further comments, I realized that the lad was a coding freak and so, I advised him to go for IIIT Allahbad because coding environment here in our college is not up to the mark just like five others before me did. Now, dont you think that for an institute, more than half of whose students get placed in IT companies must have a healthy coding environment? Its not something in which we need hell lot of funds from college authorities like FSAE. So, if our institution lacks coding culture, somewhere deep down, its our fault as its we who build the institution`s culture, not the management. To build such kind of environment, all we need to do is spread awareness among students about international coding competitions like spoj and CodeChef. I am sure there will be many code bugs around who would love to lead our college to the top in such events. This move must be initiated by CSE students as they will be the foremost benefactors of this kind of culture in our campus! Lets do it then, lets turn flip things over and do what has never been done before in this college! :D If we do our bit through such tiny initiatives, i am sure our placements will soar and status of NITj will rise and it may as well find its way to the list of top NITs. ;) :D Kudos NITj! :)
