Yesterday at Sunday River, I took a flip at about 50 mph when I hit a soft spot. I landed hard and fractured my humerus bone on the ball end. I saw an orthopedic specialist today and surgery will not be needed. But there is nothing they can do to stabilize it except a sling. Ugh! Im in a lot of pain, and typing with one hand, so if you dont hear from me for a while, please understand. Just FYI, the conditions were great. I was on Excalibur trail, one of my favorites. The top two thirds of the trail was firm, fast hard pack. It is steep, so I picked up a lot of speed. I felt it softening as I got down on the lower part, which had been in sun all day. Hitting the soft spot threw me off balance and I did a header. Bode Blake is done for the season! Ouch!
