Yesterday evening, I had just gotten settled in to wait for my moms Christmas choir program to start when I got a call from one of my aunts. My cousin Leahs husband David passed away unexpectedly yesterday. They just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary this past March. They have three amazing children, Grayson~ 14, Gillie~ 19, and Jordan~ 24. There are a lot of details I dont know, but I know that CPR was administered until the ambulance arrived, and ultimately David could not be saved... here. He could not be saved here, but he is safe for eternity with Jesus. David had believed in his heart that Jesus had died for him and accepted His gift of forgiveness and believed He was Gods Son. As a family, we do not grieve as those who have no hope (I Thessalonians 4:13). Professing our own faith in Jesus, we know that we will be reunited with our loved ones in Heaven someday. (Romans 10:9 ~ For if you tell others with your own mouth that Jesus Christ is your Lord and believe in your own heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Living Bible Translation) Most, if not all, of us have men who are pillars in our families, whether they are fathers, brothers, uncles, cousins, grandfathers, husbands... David was one of the pillars, a constant, in our family, and in his own. Always calmly reassuring. Always there to encourage and help. Loved his family very much, very evidently so. Though softer spoken, he was a very tangible, reliable presence in our family. And so funny. This sweet part of our family has endured great losses this year, beginning with the unexpected passing of my Uncle Wil in January, my cousin Edis husband Brians loss of his leg in a brush hogging accident just a few short months ago, and now Davids unexpected passing. I appreciate you remembering my Aunt Mary, my cousin Leah and her children, mentioned above, my cousin Edi and her husband, and Davids mother Rosalie and family in your prayers. So much loss for so many of you this past year. Our hope is not in this world, and that becomes more evident day by day. We focus our eyes and efforts on Heaven and store up our treasures there. Love you all very much.
