Yesterday on our after-church hike we (husband, dog, and I) saw three bald eagles. The first in a tree about three miles from our house (the closest ever). The second two... it was a mutual startlement thing. We were hiking up to a mountain reservoir and paused to take in the view, directly under the tree where, unbeknownst to us, two eagles were roosting. After a minute of chatting, one eagle launched off right over our heads and flew across a ravine to another tree. We ooh and ahhed for a bit before the second one followed suit. Then we got thoroughly scolded from across the ravine. Scolded by eagles. I feel honored. And Ill never NOT recognize an eagles voice after today.
