Yesterday the University of Toledo Wrestling team had a rough go at the Fall Brawl at Mott Community College. Three wrestlers injury defaulted out of the tournament. The Glass City Grapplers were lead by Bubba Wallace at 275 and Mike Mueller at 165 each placing second. Mueller Injury defaulted in the Championship match when he hit his head on the mat. Austin Maddox took 3rd after losing his first match and fighting back to win his next three matches by pin. RJ Breisacher placed 4th out of 4 in a very strong 125 pound weight class. Jake Sowders went 1-1 on the day having to injury default out of the tournament when he separated his shoulder in his second match pinning his opponent. Jake still finished in 4th at 157. Jake Eklund finished his first ever wrestling tournament in 5th place. For a kid who had never wrestled before he held his own in his first two matches. In the middle of his second match he collided with his opponent splitting his eyebrow open and splitting open the chin of his opponent. Jake received 7 stitches and could not finish the tournament. Our two young wrestlers Joe Tipp City Turner and Nick High did not place in their competitive weight classes but showed a tremendous amount of promise. The Rockets took several bumps and bruises but showed a lot of heart. Now its time to get back in the room and earn their way to the top of the podium.
