Yesterday was a remarkable anniversary for me: July 28, 2009 - July 28, 2014. On July 28, 2009 I left Haiti for an important journey that has forever changed my life: the journey of earning a college education. I praise and thank God for such an awesome privilege I had in my life. Its often said that NOTHING is free because someone either pays for it or makes a sacrifice. Therefore, I am forever thankful for my host families and sponsors: Steven Dawson & mommy Alicia Dawson (host & sponsors for 3 years at ALC), Pastor Tommy Reed, mommy Dawn Reed, & Fitzpatrick Baptist Church of Prestonsburg, KY (host and sponsors when I attended Big Sandy Community & Technical College; but also supported at some degrees when I went to ALC). Without the love and financial assistance of those amazing folks, my college education wouldnt be possible. In one way or another, I am also thankful for the wonderful professors, staff, friends, and loving and caring community I was blessed with at both Big Sandy CTC and ALC. My sincere thanks go to Institution Univers and its staff (including COCINA) for being a bridge of opportunity for a new future in Haiti. Despite some dark times along the way (like the passing of my biological mommy on April 30th, 2014), I had five great years of rich experiences in the U.S.: Great hosts & sponsors, excellent education, awesome friends, over 52 flights between Haiti and the U.S., lots of fun and memories, etc. Now back to Haiti, I am an educated man with a high level of maturity and skills, already making a difference as I am a counseling assistant at the Office of Graduate Placement Program (at Institution Univers) and will also teach biology and English in 10th & 11th grade in the fall. Glory to God!!!
