Yesterday was my moms 83rd birthday. While I was chatting with her tonight, she shared with me how special her day was. Of course, she found the card I send perfectly humorous and enjoyed the company of my sister. But what touched my heart more than anything was that her adopted grand kids from the middle school next door got special permission to leave school and come to see Mom and Dad on Moms birthday. They brought her her favorite cake: angel food with pink frosting. They also brought a homemade gift: a story card made with candy bars for certain parts of the story. My mom got a picture taken with these kids because one of the girls talks about Mom at home and the mother wanted to see Mom. Before the girl left, she said, Lets take also take a selfie, Mrs. Limper. It was fun hearing Mom say she had her first selfie. Tears.fill my eyes because I could not hug my mom on her special day, but also for the blessing of these children who love my parents like their own grandparents.
