Yesterday’s New York Times article about sleep loss & weight - TopicsExpress

Yesterday’s New York Times article about sleep loss & weight gain got me thinking about how often simple shifts can have an enormous impact on health. Getting just a little more sleep might help people who struggle with extra weight by actually changing how their brains respond to tempting foods, and for many people, the positive benefit of losing extra weight is far-reaching and multi-layered. Simple is not always easy, though! Simple shifts often require decisions that we don’t really want to make – such as choosing between sleep and answering those last few emails, or between sleep and extra time with a loved one. It can be helpful to remind yourself of the big picture when trying to make behavior changes, and not to beat yourself up for finding “simple” shifts challenging. Everything challenging gets easier with practice. well.blogs.nytimes/2013/08/06/how-sleep-loss-adds-to-weight-gain/?hpw&_r=0
