You are perfect. Theres no one smarter than you, theres no one better-looking than you, theres no one stronger than you or richer than you. Dont forget that. Ever. Up until about 7th Grade, I knew that. Then, I started to notice that I was coming up short (literally and figuritively) when compared to some of my peers. Some of them had more friends than I did, some had an image that was closer to the standards of beauty being shoved in my face daily by television and magazines. Some had more possessions. Some were more talented and some were more confident. I started to question myself. Surely, if I were more like THEM, I would be a better person. You can probably guess how well that turned out. All the way through high school, I was constantly trying to determine what I should be and who I should emulate to achieve perfection. I became like a distorted mirror, weakly reflecting the person who stood before me, trying vainly to present an image they would fine attractive. I often felt invisible, so I would make a lot of noise simply to let people know I was there. There were some that I let see behind the pose, but they were very few. Then, high school was over and they were all off to college while I went to work. During the next year I spent a lot of time alone and that was probably my salvation. I started to like myself. With no one to compare myself to but myself, I started to actually like and appreciate the gifts and talents I had been given. I became comfortable in my own skin. I say all this, not to raise myself up in your eyes, but to encourage you to see the perfection in yourself. Stop comparing yourself to others; you will never measure up. You are unique and no one will ever be better at being YOU, than you are! I just thought youd like to know that.
