You can not feel tension build up until you finally feel the results of it accumulated over years. Until you are made to feel a difference and a better way to use that part of your body, you continue as usual. Our hands and the way they grip, our eyes and the way they strain to see and concentrate, our jaws clenching while working or sleeping, our hips and shoulders gripped for action or tension or just because. There are so many areas that we continuously grip. It is so hard to let go because there are just so many places we need letting go! Do a self study. Take your hands for example, can they just relax and rest opened? Do you need to constantly hold or grip something? Do you hold a pen or pencil or fork or knife tightly or relaxed? When you hold onto things or carry things are your fingers gripped or relaxed? Can you be relaxed with your hands palms up just being there not doing anything for more than 1-5 minutes?
