You can’t be the director, editor, producer, audience AND ACTOR in your scene. If you are trying to be all of these... you’re not trusting (the audience) to do our jobs. In other words, trust and believe in the story you are telling and that the story is good. It requires a mixture of irreverence and faith, and perhaps a bit of a cavalier nature in order to do it. Get to the point where you are in such command of what you do, that have earned the right to think, ‘if you don’t get what I’m doing, then you’re not smart enough… what I’m doing is great…’ The good ones (with a good eye) will see it.
