You have to love audacity of our Governor General Dame Pearlette - TopicsExpress

You have to love audacity of our Governor General Dame Pearlette Louisy. Calling a spade a spade you gotta love it. Her spanking eloquence which in conclusion validates what has long been spoken about that is, the squandering of our scarce resources, on those often party reward appointees in our Foreign Consulates. And I quote I see names and I’m not always able to match them to faces, not even this morning. Sometimes a CV is attached to the letter in which the prime minister advises me to make the appointment under section 37-2-C of the Constitution of Saint Lucia. Sometimes there is no information whatsoever. I do appoint the heads of missions on conditions discussed, negotiated with the executive and I have to admit I have no idea as to what those terms and conditions are and so whether there is any consistency in the terms and conditions across the range of officers appointed to serve overseas. So I really would like to hope that there is transparency in these negotiations. This, undoubtedly is an across the board bad practice by our Govts past (UWP)and present(SLP) and culpability lies with the administrations of both of our leading political parties....however when the ruling St Lucia Labor Party has in it own utterances promised to be party of change, of doing things DIFFERENTLY, but in reality things stay the same and worsen and considering admissions and revelations by our esteemed Governor General I think it time St Lucians should now demand accountability.....According to the SLP measuring stick (more like prick)the Blueprint for Growth, and let me quote so I get it right We will make greater use of our foreign missions to establish bilateral and multilateral agreements with friendly countries to combat crime and terrorism. However in the contrary under this Govts watch we have seen sanctions placed on Govt Officials from participating in friendly nation activities, and the elimination of free travel of our citizens to Canada. Ask our Foreign Ministry if there is any clear protocol on how it manages deportees? then there is The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be empowered to negotiate desirable Double Tax Treaties and Tax Information Exchange Agreements with Saint Lucia’s key trading partners, where these do not exist, and to seek out new, beneficial Treaties. All I ask on this one is where, when and with whom do these treaties exist again? Oh and lets not forget and I quote An SLP government will never negotiate Saint Lucia’s foreign policy via secret deals and personal gifts and promises....Do St Lucians even know the devil in the details of ALBA and PetroCaribe alliances, other than Labor says its good for us. Our Governor General cannot validate these appointees, even after making countless inquiries and requesting transparency as to what these foreign missions and their hand picked square peg in round hole personnel are really mandated to do to advance the interest of St Lucia by our Prime Minister, and our frequent flyer Foreign Minister. One thing we do know for sure is these missions have and continue to cost the St Lucian tax payer millions of $ in salaries and perks..... with nothing to show for it......It is time for accountability from PM Anthony and our Ministry and Minister of Foreign Affairs.....
