You hear my voice. My words are the ones that grace this page. But SHE, my lovely partner, is the voice behind the voice, the man behind the curtain, if you will. SHE is the driving force behind all this. SHE is the one propelling us forward. SHE is the one who insists that we do better. SHE is the one who has initiated almost every positive change weve made in our life. My talent is communicating these ideas to you, our gentle readers; her talent is cracking open my thick skull and filling it with sensibility and light. I am as immovable as a mountain. Change is hard for me. I prefer a strict schedule. I do the same thing, every single day. I put the same food in my lunch box, every single day. I have my routines, which I follow without fail, and if I must deviate from them, Im left rudderless and out of sorts. Ive no doubt that, without her prodding, I would continue to do what Ive always done every day until Im ninety years old. I would work at the same job, forever. I would never move a piece of furniture. I would buy the same exact thing at the supermarket. I would happily stare at the same color paint on the walls. I would never even consider selling our house and buying another. Im a stuck-in-a-rut kind of guy. This applies to our ideas about parenting, as well. SHE pushed me to do better. SHE insisted that we try something new. SHE dragged me, kicking and screaming, out of my comfort zone and showed me why we were failing. I would have continued to fail. I suck at change. I would have just continued on my merry way. But SHE wouldnt let me fail. SHE loves me and SHE loves our children and SHE wouldnt accept the status quo. So, you hear my voice. But its really her voice, filtered through me. The words are mine, because I can tap at the keyboard and make the thoughts come alive. But SHE is the inspiration. They say behind every great man is a great woman. Well, Im not claiming greatness for myself, but Im bestowing it on her. SHE is relentless. SHE is determined. SHE will not accept failure. SHE will not let me falter. Without her, the words die. Without her, the dream is gone. SHE is my muse. SHE makes all this possible. Thank you, sweet lady, for being a better friend than I ever knew existed.
