You know, I should really think twice before I ever brag about how well Im doing on a particular task. See, Willow is doing great with the milking. We sang, we ate, we milked. Still not much milk, but my technique is improving, and I went a little faster. I trimmed her feet, which is a task Ive neglected this winter, and it showed. I must say its far easier on the stand than on the ground, so I was feeling all, I am woman, hear me roar! Then...it was Cookies turn. Oh, Cookie. She hated the new stand location. She hated being on the stand. She opened the stanchion WITH HER HORNS. She kicked - me, the bucket, the wall...whatever. She yelled. She danced. She tightened up her udder like I was an elderly millionaire asking a Playboy Playmate for a prenup. No amount of singing or food or massage was gonna shake this girl down. I got like 7 drops out of her. To top things off, Willow was all, Oh, she doesnt like the stand? Let it be MY turn again! I love your voice that totally doesnt sound like two frogs getting run over! She kept jumping up with Cookie (my door is still a work in progress, which obviously needs to be upped to critical status) and mehhhh-ing at me lovingly. See what a good girl I am? Give ME the grain! Then Cookie would cry, as if to say, YES! See? SHE LIKES THIS! LET ME OUT! Finally, I just put my head in my hands and laughed until I got the hiccups. Then I pushed Willow down, trimmed Cookies feet while I sang, My Goats Are All So Naughty All Day Long to the tune of Shell Be Comin Round... and called it a day. Also, I am totally scouring Craigslist for a gently used Medela breast pump that I can retrofit for goats.
