You know, I’m sick of HipHop getting a bad name because of ignorance. As I leave the store a few minutes ago, this youngster is getting reamed by these two dudes talking about how negative HipHop is. I stand there because for a minute, youngblood is holding his own. But, he eventually becomes overwhelmed. I tell him, “If you need me to step in, just tag me.” After getting the signal, I asked these guys have they heard the music of Mateo Victory, Shai Linne, Derek Minor, Street Hymns, Sevin, and I namedd a few others. As expected, they say no. Typical. So I informed them that they are all Christians rappers with huge followings. I informed them that artists like Derek Minor out sell artists like 2Chainz. They seem shocked. Typical. So I tell them to check out VibesandVino and they can hear indie HipHop including gospel hip-hop plus NeoSoul and NeoGospel. Guy: Vino? That’s wine. Me: Yep. Guy: You mix gospel rap music and wine. Me: Yep. Sometimes. Guy: Why? (confused look) Me: I have to be where the wild things are. Guy: (confused look) Me: Luke 5:31.
