You know, it is amazing just how much of a difference a princess can make in the life of someone. Today after a party for an adorable 5 year old, we decided to eat dessert at Freddys.. We thought it would be fun to take pictures with the kids because the best part of the job is seeing the star-struck expressions of little children as their favorite fairy tale characters seem to leap off the pages of their stories. Today was special though, a man came over to us and asked if we would be willing to take pictures with his autistic son. We said that we would and walked over. A young man probably a couple years older than us was standing with his mother, giving us the biggest smile in the world. He was so excited that we were there and that he could meet us. We walked over and introduced ourselves to him and took a couple of pictures. Then the mother handed us each a five dollar bill. We walked away to take another picture but, we didnt feel right taking the money. We tried to give it back but they wouldnt take it. So, we decided to put it in our savings account so that we can see more amazing smiles like the one we saw today. Even after a few hours, this amazing experience has not left me and if anything has invigorated me to continue doing what Im doing. Being a princess is more than putting on a dress and looking pretty. A princess is someone kids should be able to cling to when they dont know who else to turn to. Princesses are the remnants of childhood, the happy thoughts that get you through the day. To be a princess is to hug a child and be the last one to let go, because you never know how much that child needs that hug.
