You know, the racial identity of the police officer that shot this - TopicsExpress

You know, the racial identity of the police officer that shot this unarmed man is of no import to me. Why? Because I am not a racist. I hold no hatred or intolerance of any other race or other races in my heart. I would not dare to assume that a black Police Officer must have had a racial motivation to shoot a white man that charges him in a threatening manner. Tragically, a life was lost and a fool sealed his own fate. How is it though, that so many people have jumped to such a conclusion in the Mike Brown (Ferguson, MO) shooting? Without evidence. Without investigation. Without hearing from the Police Officer involved. Without a fair trial. Without qualifying the character and veracity of the supposed witnesses. I pity the racist because the racist is ignorant and to be most pitied. My life is richer because of the people of many races that I have known, loved and called friends throughout my life. A black racist is no less ignorant than a white racist. And for the benefit and blessing of any racist, such racism should not be accepted or justified due to past injustices whether actual or perceived. Truly, cultural ignorance knows no color; black is not right and white is not wrong. Conversely, white is not right and black is not wrong. Cultural ignorance and abominable bigotry is nothing new; not to America, not to the world and not to our particular station on the timeline of history. Jesus Christ, the Messiah of all mankind, addressed this issue some 2,000 years ago: [Gs] In reply Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’ “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?” The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.” Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.” Today is no different, with many parallels to the hatred that Jews and Samaritans experienced. Today racial and ethnic barriers still abound. But, the message of Jesus, provides a bridge to all. In Christ, there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all... Only the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob can unite America because only the blood of His Son Jesus Christ has the power to forgive the sin of man and reconcile man to God, His Father. [Gs] But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” - Rom 10:8-13 Let’s stand together against ignorance; black, white, brown, yellow or red. In Christ, there is no color and in heaven, there will be “a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb.” – Rev 7:9
