You know youre from Lima if you repeatedly watch people run the stop signs at the intersections of Reese & 2nd streets on a daily basis. While most of the time there are no accidents there but that is not always the case. When I lived down the street from there a few years ago, I witnessed a few accidents there. Then tonight, there was a bad accident down there which was caused by a vehicle speeding around the corner of 2nd onto Reese and collided with a parked car probably 200 feet from the corner on the opposite side of the street. Years ago when I went to Whittier, I remember a light at that intersection, but years later it was replaced with just stop signs on 2nd street, then years later the added stop signs on Reese making it a 4- way stop, but that did not stop people from running the stop signs, only reduced the number of accidents by a small percentage. After what happened tonight I really believe there needs to be a traffic light there again. Does anyone know what has to be done to make an attempt to persuade the city/county to do a study and evaluate that intersection to see if there has been enough accidents and heavy enough traffic flow to require a light there again?
