You may have seen the news stories about the panleukopenia outbreak at Indianapolis Animal Care & Control: ow.ly/DiypR When our staff was informed about this situation, we responded by sending members of our medical team to IACC, in order to provide assistance however we could. Our staff helped assess the situation and assisted with flow/disinfectant plans, and we were also able to pull several kittens from their facility. All of the kittens we pulled from IACC will be started on antibiotics, revaccinated, and will immediately go to foster home quarantines for two weeks, so rest assured we are working to ensure that we do not bring panleuk into our facility. As per our usual protocol, our medical staff will continue to monitor all kennel areas, cages, and free-roaming cat rooms in order to make sure our animal residents stay healthy. We also want to take a moment to send our support and best wishes to the staff at Indianapolis Animal Care & Control. They work tirelessly each and every day to provide care for hundreds of animals despite extremely limited resources. We’re thinking of you all and will continue to help however we can.
