Youm Al-Quds observed in Valley amid clashes CNS: In Kashmir Valley, Jumat-ul-Wida was observed as the Youm Al-Quds ( Day of Quds) on Friday to impress upon the international community to come forward in a big way to help secure the people of Occupied Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir their Inalienable right to self-determination. People took to streets all over Kashmir against the Israeli and Indian occupation of Palestine and Kashmir and set American and Israeli National Flags on fire. Scores of people clashed with police and CRPF personnel in Old City soon after Friday prayers. Youth pelted stones on police vehicles and raised pro-freedom slogans. According to reports, scores of people assembled near Press Enclave soon after Friday prayers who were carrying Islamic flags. Protestors raised anti-Israel and anti-America slogans. Speaking on the occasion Maulana Syed Abid Raza appealed Muslims to get united against the common foe. “It is irony and disgusting that Muslim rulers are the part of the ploy to get Muslims butchered everywhere,” Maulana Raza said. The biggest congregation was held at the historic grand Jamia Masjid in the heart of the old city. Many thousand people, including a large number of women, joined the Friday prayers. Chairman of his faction of Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, addressed the gathering. Soon after the prayers. Scores of youth tried to take out a march in Nowhatta area of Srinagar city and set Israeli and US flags on fire. Youth were stopped by the police which provoked them and they resorted to heavy stone pelting. Police used pellet guns to disperse them. Pitched battles were fought by youth and police at different places of city for hours. A police official told CNS that youth resorted to stone pelting in Nowhatta and its adjacent areas which disrupted normal life. Reports said that five people including a woman was injured during the clashes between youth and police. Meanwhile in Hajin area of Bandipora district, youth took to streets and raised anti-India slogans. In response to stone pelting, police used tear smoke shells. Eyewitnesses told CNS that police thrashed a youth and later on arrested him. He has been identified as Hilal Ahmed Bhat son of Abdul Rashid resident of Kochak Mohalla Hajin. Syed Ali Geelani and Shabir Ahmed Shah were put under house arrest and were not allowed to venture out from their houses. Congregational prayers were also held at Masjid Jamiat-e-Ahlehadith, Gawkadal; Asar-e-Sharif, Janab Sahib, Soura; Asar-e-Sharif, Shehri Kalashpora; Ziarat Dastgeer Sahib, Khanyar, Ziarat Dastgeer Sahib, Sarai Bala; Ziarat-e-Makhdoom Sahib, Khanqah-e-Mualla, and several other mosques and shrines in Srinagar. In central Kashmir’s Budgam district, mass rallies were taken in Ompora, Nagam Chadoora, Main Chowk Budgam, Hyderpora and Khasahib soon after the congregational Friday prayers. Head of Piran-i-Wilayat Jammu and Kashmir, Maulana Sibti Muhammad Shabir Qami while addressing congregational gathering at Central Jamia Masjid Zainabia (pbuh) in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district, stressed upon the Muslims to keep their petty interests aside and work for the welfare of the Muslim Ummah as a whole. He said that Israeli aggression in Palestine continues and all over the world the Muslims are being massacred for none of their fault. He said that It was Imam Khomini who propounded the thought of Qudus and brought all the Muslim of the world under one flag to fight against the aggression of Israel and United States. Shortly after Friday prayers a rally was taken out under the leadership of Maulana Sibti Muhammad Shabir Qami which culminated peacefully at Khanda Budgam. Thousands of people, participating in rally amid Pro-Islamic slogans set the Israeli and American flags ablaze. Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Mohammad Yaseen Malik addressed a gathering in Char-e-Sherief in the district. “The Israeli regime is a tool in the hands of Zionists to control the Middle East and the entire world. Israel and the Zionist entity are against the preservation of all human rights and human dignity,” he said adding that Israeli occupation in Bait-ul-Muqadas must end without any delay. (CNS)
