Young Canadian actor Jack Irvine has been cast in Gracepoint as Tom Miller, the son of Ellie (Anna Gunn) and Joe (Josh Hamilton). In the original UK series Broadchurch, Tom was the best friend of murder victim Danny and a troubled young man with a secret to hide. Gracepoint, which started shooting on Vancouver Island this week, is a ten-part adaptation by Fox TV of Chris Chibnalls award winning ITV series Broadchurch. Chibnall serves as writer and executive producer on the new version while David Tennant reprises his role as the lead investigator into the mysterious death of a young boy in a tiny coastal community in California. In other Gracepoint news, it seems that the Solano family mentioned by executive producer John Goldwyn in an interview last week is the new name for the Latimers.
