Your interview skills are extremely important and the ability to articulate what you can contribute as an employee is immediately important. What is also important is your general ability to communicate which will be assessed from the point that you answer that first phone call in response to your application. First impressions count and weigh substantially towards your offer to meet for interview. Answer the phone professionally, articulately and showing interest in what the individual on the other end may be contacting you about.
