ZRP ready to maintain peace: The Zimbabwe Republic Police say police officers will remain on the ground to maintain peace after the harmonised elections. National police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said it is the police duty to ensure there is peace and security before, during and after the elections. Senior Assistant Commissioner Charamba said officers were only removed from polling stations but others will continue monitoring the situation in the country as part of their constitutional mandate. The Zimbabwe Republic Police has also applauded the electorate for the peaceful environment before, during and after the elections. Meanwhile, the police say they are ready to deal with any situation. This follows threats by some MDC activists who are saying they want to protest against the election outcome.
