Zambia Reports Inks Content Partnership with Facebook’s Internet.org App Zambia Reports is proud to announce its new content partnership with Facebook’s Internet.org application, offering free access to our news content as well many other exciting services for subscribers to Airtel. The latest update to the Internet.org app which was released early this morning will also feature content from Goal as well as Ebola Info by UNICEF, in addition to the existing free access to Accuweather, Facebook, Wikipedia, Google Search, Go Zambia Jobs, Kokoliko.net, among useful health, employment and local information services without incurring data charges. Airtel subscribers can start reading Zambia Reports for free today by downloading the app through the Google Play Store, at internet.org, or within the Facebook for Android app. The service will work on smartphones and feature phones. “Over 85% of the world’s population lives in areas with existing cellular coverage, yet only about 30% of the total population accesses the internet,” said Guy Rosen, the Product Management Director of Internet.org in a statement when the app launched on July 31, 2014. “Affordability and awareness are significant barriers to internet adoption for many and today we are introducing the Internet.org app to make the internet accessible to more people by providing a set of free basic services.” Internet.org is a Facebook-led initiative with the goal of making affordable Internet access available to the two-thirds of the world that can’t afford to connect, and offer them the same opportunities as those who can afford to get online. The organisers of the project are aiming to increase Internet adoption rates by offering free access to basic services, giving people the opportunity to benefit from health, communication, jobs, and local information in ways that may not have been possible without access.
