Zambia Reports shared the following link and had this to say about it: Letter: SDA May Drop HH as Elder The Seventh Day Adventist Church in Zambia is poised to drop the losing presidential candidate in waiting in this year’s presidential election HH as an elder. This has been precipitated by most of the members’ concern who strongly believe that HH has not done much to suppress the allegations about his alleged involvements with the secret society the freemasons. Some members believe that HH’s continued stay as an elder in the church whilst carrying an alleged satanic freemason tag will have severe repercussions on the Church and it’s outreach programmes in the near future. The Seventh Day is one of the largest Churches in Zambia with a greater concentration of its members in the southern, western and central parts of the country. The SDA is known for its direct message of the Lord Jesus Christ. Most Zambians adore the SDA for being the only Church that keeps the Sabbath. Their hymns are sweet melodies in the ears of many Zambians such as ukandiyeye ukandiyeye omwami ukandiyeye omwami (remember me remember me O Lord). The UPND was founded by Anderson Kambela Mazoka in 2000. Around this time, Anderson confessed to the Times of Zambia that he renounced his membership with the secret society the freemasons and became a Christian in the Catholic Church in order to exert his energies to his newly founded party. Though Mazoka became a Christian, he still adopted a fortified hand symbol of the freemasons as the UPND symbol. Unlike his predecessor Mazoka who renounced his membership with the cult society, HH has not come out in the open except to say that he doesn’t know who the freemasons are. This response has not resonated in the minds of the electorates but seen as feeble. HH will be standing against the PF Christian candidate Edgar Chagwa Lungu in this tuesday’s presidential election, but has already conceded defeat. In a paid programme at Lusaka’s QFM, HH said that “the freemason satanic tag threatens his presidential bid.” This was an understatement, in actuality, it has obliterated all his presidential ambitions. Zambians do not take satanism or Freemasonry easily, especially the pentecostals who happen to be one of the strongest voting blocs. What should UPND then do to attract more members across the Country and remain competitive? Simple, go back to the drawing boards and undo what Mazoka did. First and foremost, remove the fortified freemason hand symbol from the party. Secondly, UPND must boldly remove HH as its party president and replace him with a person with political experience but without any inclinations to a cult or secret society. The party must be inclusive. The copy and paste strategy UPND has applied of late to give it a national character has done more harm than good. Most of the politicians who are supporting UPND are either suspended or not in good standing with their respective political parties. UPND must also take long strides to break away from regional and tribal politics. Lately, we have seen some disgruntled politicians on UPND rallies pouring opprobrium on the ruling PF and its President while hurling tribal epithets. As things stand, PF Edgar Chagwa Lungu will be the 6th President of the Republic of Zambia on 20th January, 2015. As for UPND and HH, it’s more of the same.
