Zambia has experienced great spectacular changes in political, social, health and economic spheres during the last twenty years. The country has undergone some structural transformations in maintaining peace in the country and Zambia too enjoys her current democratic standards attained today which is a good PR faculty as a Christian nation, the nation had gone through political and economic hardships for a very long time, Zambia as a nation before 1964 the country was under colonial rulership of Britons and after that period, Zambia was subjected to one single party system during the ruling of our former Republican President Dr. Kenneth Kaunda and the country has today moved completely from state controlled market economy to the liberated economy which was introduced in 1991 by Dr. Kaunda’s forerunner President Chiluba. These changes were created by MMD a party which was supervised by the late former president Dr. FTJ Chiluba who may have shaped collective implications that have modified the social structure and interface among social groups in Zambia today. In additional to the changes in both political and economic spheres, public relations has been one of the most fastest developing profession fields globally since time in immemorial when most of the countries especially in Africa regained their independences from either British or French and the Portuguese too. Within the last 49 years since Zambia gained her independence several intercontinental public relations agencies have opened their doors to Zambia by introducing international treaties on commerce, investment and trade among others who have provided Zambia as a country with mutual understanding in matters to do with international agreements between countries by formulating strategic and consent policies such as bilateral and multilateral driven policies. Many local public relations agencies operating in Zambia have been strongly established themselves in all areas of PR allowing them right of advocacy and lobbying on certain sensitive issues concerning government policies and sustainable development programs following an enabling environment prevailing in the country and many of these policy linkages have actually been appreciated by many local stakeholders and global agencies such as the United Nations working closely with various cooperative partners in Zambia. Over the past years, Zambia has grown to offer great potential in the academic of public relations. Currently almost every organization employs in-house public relations practitioners and most of the local and international universities offer courses in public relations which rendered the needs to establish institute of public relations in Zambia for the purposes of maintaining ethics, goodwill and professional conducts. Other African countries have experienced some similar political and economic changes like to those of Zambia and these countries include Kenya, South Africa, Malawi, Ghana, DR Congo e.t.c hence this has led to the peaceful elections that Zambia has always been experiencing in most general elections and in the running of political affairs by each governing party in power because the nation has placed a good public relations image within its citizenry as a strong message in keeping the affairs of the nation with spirit of love and peace within the local communities. Theses transformations and the evolvement of public relations occurred in chorus in other African nations which have seen peaceful elections and this has remained a strong key factor to the UN body, IMF, World Bank, including other economic cooperating partners and non Governmental agencies operating locally in the nation. Despite the political and economic turbulences taking high pace in the local economy with the mining sector, the changes and growth of investment to this level as we are referring to it today, Public relations has greatly contributed in impacting positive effects to the many developmental programs in the international circle of multilateral relationship, business and investment areas.
