Zero Tolerance for Anti-semitism Yesterday Rabbi Lisa joined 4,500 protesters outside the Royal Courts of Justice at a rally organised by the Campaign Against Anti Semitism. In the late August sunshine, a good-natured crowd heard a diverse range of speakers from inside and beyond the Jewish community including Rabbi Laura Janner-Klausner, Senior Rabbi to the Reform Movement, Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis, Laura Marks from the Board of Deputies, and Maajid Nawaz, chairman of Quilliam. Bernard Yaffe closed the speeches outlining the triumph of northern campaigners in successfully ending the weeks long protests by anti-Israel activists outside the Kedem shop in Manchester. The message from the rally: united we stand - collaboration across and beyond the Jewish community is essential to combatting anti-semitism; take action by writing to local MPs; challenge every anti-semitic comment and statement of misinformation on Israel. Finally, anti-semitism is not a Jewish problem, but a problem for every citizen in the UK. Where Jews are targeted, next it will be the Muslims, the Sikhs, the Christians, people of colour.Anti-semitism, like all racism and discrimination, flouts the values of democracy we hold dear in British society.
