Zero to Eight: Children’s Media Use in America 2013 Even a casual observer of children and families today knows big changes are afoot when it comes to children and new media technologies. This report, based on the results of a large-scale, nationally representative survey, documents for the first time exactly how big those changes are. The survey is the second in a series of national surveys of children’s media use; the first was conducted in 2011 (Zero to Eight: Children’s Media Use in America, Common Sense Media, 2011). By replicating the methods used two years ago, it was possible to document how children’s media environments and behaviors have changed. Children’s access to mobile media devices is dramatically higher than it was two years ago. Among families with children age 8 and under, there has been a five-fold increase in ownership of tablet devices such as iPads, from 8% of all families in 2011 to 40% in 2013. Read the full report:
