a volunteer writes: Timberwolf is just finishing the absolute worst week of his young life. Found as a Staten Island stray, he did not like being “captured” and the folks who resorted to darting him. Needless to say, he was not pleased being stuffed into a cage at Manhattan ACC, rarely being taken out to do his business, and surrounded by other dogs, strangers, and confusion. Apparently healthy when he got there, the “shelter cold” got to him quickly and now to make matters even worse, he’s really sick. And sadly, Timberwolf just hasn’t known how he’s supposed to behave—he guards that cage of his with his every breath and just doesn’t trust those people who come to take him out not to hurt him again. So tonight, Timberwolf is in a fight for his very life—he’s on tomorrow’s euthanasia list and he’s New Hope only. This 2 year old needs a very savvy dog person who understands cage aggression, who understands that the trauma of darting and then being carried off can make any dog lose their way. If you think you understand all of that and if you think you know what this very handsome young boy needs, then start applying to rescues to foster or adopt Timberwolf.
