&, again, GOD morning..Was thinking (good or bad idea!) during what should have been sleeping time, about when I met the woman who became my mother-in-law, in 1961..I went to the house, up to the 2nd floor apartment. My future husbands grandparents lived on the 1st floor of the big, 2 family home they owned, & the 2 floor was occupied by future hubby, & in-laws. As I entered the livingroom, from the kitchen, she was sitting across the room... tiny, she was, with lots of jet black hair, big green eyes, very pretty, & a warm, welcoming smile, as she greeted me. I noticed, as I entered through the doorway, a podium with a huge, old, opened wide bible on it, & a tall candle in an old, tall antique holder on each side of the bible. Above the podium, on the wall, was a painting of a young boy, 8 y.o. Thats my middle son, & said his name, with a very sad, soft tone. Her chair , I realized, was across the room, directly lined up with this podium, & painting. She told me that he, along with his older & younger brother, had gotten new sleds for Christmas & that the town had closed off a particular road with a huge hill on it, so the kids could slide down it, on the new sleds they had gotten for Christmas, 2 days before..& that a Telephone truck went thru the barrier, & ran over her boy, killing him, instantly. Over time, as I got more involved with the family, i was told about my future mother-in-laws moms tragic death...trapped inside her burning house, not able to be reached in time, & the screams heard by all, who were within earshot, including my future in-laws. These incidences were referred as the Perry curses.....I got to have them rub off on me, over time... When I married, hubs & I were avid church goers, even though we eloped, we got married in a Navy Chapel, on a Naval base.. (his uncle was the Chaplain, @ Charleston Naval Base in the Carolinas, Nov. 15, 1961 & so it began.. We eloped because my parents did not approve of my choice of boyfriends....wild ones, they were...& he was the wildest,(of course!!!) of them all!! To be continued...AMEN
