angster Guru Satams nephew nabbed for extortion: The Anti Extortion Cell (AEC) of the Mumbai crime branch have arrested the 32-year-old nephew of wanted gangster Guru Satam, for extorting money from a Mumbai-based builder. The officials laid a trap and arrested the accused when he came to receive the first installment of the demanded extortion money. Senior police inspector, AEC, Vinayak Vast said the accused had been remanded to police custody till December 10 for further investigations into the case. Who did the caller identify himself as? According to sources in the crime branch, the complainant, who has sites at several places across Mumbai, began receiving calls from gangster Satam around 20 days ago. The complainant told the police that Satam allegedly demanded money and threatened to bump him off if the money was not paid. After a few days, the complainant began receiving calls from a public telephone from a man who identified himself as Satams associate in the city. What did the caller demand for? On Friday morning, the complainant approached the Dadar police and complained that he had received a call from Satams associate demanding Rs50 lakh. The caller told the complainant to arrange for the first installment of Rs10 lakh by the same evening. The case was then transferred to the AEC, Mumbai immediately for further investigation. How was the accused nabbed? The AEC officials laid a trap to arrest the caller near KEM hospital in Parel, where the caller had asked the complaint to arrive with the money. Explaining their trap, an officer from Crime branch said: We all disguised ourselves as factory workers, taxi drivers and hawkers, and waited patiently for the caller to show up to collect the money. He added: The caller arrived late in the evening, and as soon as he collected the money from the complainant, we moved in and arrested him. What is the identity of the accused? As per AEC officials, the accused has been identified as Narhari Satam, alias Pankaj alias Kanya and is believed to be Satams nephew. The police have booked him for extortion and criminal conspiracy and has been sent to police custody till December 10.
