assalamualaikum dear frndzzz...... alhamdulilah i did a lil more research on the issue of taraweeh ..insha allah i ll try to put it in most concise way possible.... first hadith sanab goes like this... Imam Abu Bakar Bin Abi Shaiba Rh. --> Wakii Rh. --> Maalik Bin Anas Rh. --> Yahiya Bin Saeed Rh. yahya bin saeed narrates that omar radiallahuan commanded a man to lead a 20 rakah salah... first thing to know is that the above mentioned rijal are sikkah widout a doubt....great scholars have accept them as sikah such as hafiz ibn hajar and hafiz zehbi... now isnaad is mursal because yahya bin saeed rahimahullah didnt see the period of omar radiallahuan and some ppl might say that its daeef because its mursal but this is proven from other mursal ahadith ....so infact it is (Mursal e Motazid) ..and most fuqaha and muhadiseen has used mursal and mursal mtazid as hujjah or shud i say daleel....i ll mention a few of em IA Tamaam Tabien E Izaam Rh. (Tadreeb Ur Raavi : 167/1) Hazrat Shah Wali Ullah Muhaddis Dehelwi Rh. (Hujjatul Baalegha 140/1) Shaik Ul Islaam Zakarriya Ansaari Rh. (Sharah Nahbatul Fikr Shaik Ul Islaam Bawaala Rakaat E Taraveh : 65) and others like hafiz ibn hajar and imam navavi etc considers mursal and mursal mutazid as hujjah... still.....its surprising to see that some people say if hadith is mursal then its daeef....wat an irony...rly....so many gr8 tabeen and atb tabeen says its hujjah and moreoever ummah has been following 20 rakah....that it self is enuf to substantiate 20 rakah.... if still some one has doubt they can ask IA...i ll answer to the best of my knowledge or i ll consult our respected ulama IA...i ll bring next hadith in a week IA...barakallahu feek..
