#blacklivesmatter The Death of Mohammad Khlifa Drame / Antwerp, Belgium. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Young father and husband Mohammad Khlifa Drame is arrested for no apparent reason (talking with an acquaintance on a square in Antwerp?), he is taken to a police station where the arresting officers find out that Drame - who lives legally in Belgium - is not wanted for anything. Drame undergoes a stripsearch, and the police officers conclude that they have no ground to hold Drame. They then give Drame a lift to an obscure place in the Antwerp harbour, after having passed several bus stops where Drame could have teken a bus to his home in Essen, a small town in Belgium. Afterwards, the police officers claim that they opened the police van at this obscure spot, at night, underneath a highway/bridge, and that Drame panicked and ran off. the day after he was found.... drowned. At first, the police officers got away with their rather bizarre story... But some magistrates in the (Belgian) Chamber of Indiction demanded that the two officers be prosecuted. The public prosecutor assigned with this task at one point asserted that some pieces of the puzzle were missing, which could - you know - be a sign that the two police officers were not telling the truth, and this prompted the public prosecutor to ask the judge not to indict the two officers. The judge went along with this, so the two officers got away scot-free, without even ever having been properly prosecuted for the death of Drame. Ive brought up this case on Facebook about a dozen times, in Flemish discussion groups, and in most cases almost all participants simply ignore my pointing to this case.
