by 1968 The Beatles had tired of the psychedelic songs/album covers of 1967. They were looking for new avenues of inspiration and their trip [in early 68] to India provided all sorts of inspiration for songs. They never talked much in a positive light about the Maharishi afterward, but John and Paul both wrote songs based on his lectures. One of those lectures was about being a child of nature. It must have been a good one because both John Lennon and Paul McCartney came out of that lecture and wrote songs based on the experience. John Lennons was beautiful. It was entitled Child of Nature, which had one of his most haunting and beautiful melodies. We heard the melody later when he used it for Jealous Guy. Paul McCartneys was Mother Natures Son which ended up on the White Album.
