does anyone remember the seniors of Wakita High School initations, the Seniors would take a freshman, and they had to do what ever the senior told them, and it got pretty bad. The seniors made paddles, some were almost in humaine, well looked so and felt so. Norma Jean Guthrie Johanning had me, I had to scrub cement steps with a tooth brush, wear and onion around my neck, and have to eat that onion before the day was over uggg and would you believe I still like onions? I still have the paddle when I was a senior, and found the on that Charolette Rapp Parson had and gave it to her son. On Friday after a week of this had a paddle line the whold Hi school lined up at the south entrance to the Old brick school building and we had to run tro this. scared holy moly. those big boys like Dick Green just waiting for me to start. That day I wore my dads overalls (big) and padded my rear with a blanket , so the overalls picked up wind and wasnt as bad as expected, not sure of the year they quit this but it was a going thing for lots of years
