don’t fall in love with a man who keeps you awake at night with just his memories as you lay back on your sheets and stare at the ceiling with arms limp. don’t think of him when the winds howl and rap against the fiberglass and you wrap yourself with a blanket that only consists of your fragrance. don’t wish for his love when the stars streak the night sky and gleam like diamond-studded engagement rings; we all know that stellar objects aren’t that magical anymore as they were back when hearts were just paper cut-outs and they could be torn, but never shattered. don’t desire for his sea green eyes - you’ll only taste the salt upon your lips. don’t long for his dark brown tresses that cascade over his moonlight-kissed face. don’t spread your fingers to touch them - you know that he’s too far. crumple the papers on your table and don’t look at the smudged ink and then take your words back. he’s never going to read the letters of a crazed girl. don’t fall in love with him because he’s not going to love you back. let the winds howl for all they want, at least they drown the echoes of his deep baritone in your mind. let your mane fall on the pillows like a golden halo, and treasure the silence of the room and the emptiness of the bed. sing yourself to sleep and don’t cry. because when you fall, you’ll break. the pain will be more lethal than the sharp edges of scissors and glue wouldn’t be enough to piece you back. don’t fall in love, don’t fall, don’t. but you’ve never been good at following directions, have you?
