email from RSPCA :( Follow link to pledge if it calls your heart xx Dear Bridget, I know that you share RSPCA Qld’s determination to protect animals from cruelty. Your participation in important animal welfare pledges in the past has left me in no doubt about that. So I’m contacting you today to ask you to please add your voice to another action. We’re asking residents of Queensland to stand together against animal abuse by pledging to report acts of cruelty to the RSPCA. This urgent need to make our voices heard comes as a reaction to the horrendous abuse suffered by a defenceless Golden Retriever named Gracie. Her suffering was appalling. Gracie was struck over the head with a heavy block of wood before being drowned in their backyard pool by her owner because he didn’t want to pay for her fractured foot to be treated. Shockingly, in return for committing this horrific crime, Gracies owner was fined just $3,000 plus $74 court costs — and thats it! Theres nothing to stop this cruel man from inflicting more pain on an innocent animal in the future. I believe that this heartbreaking outcome fails to reflect the outrage the majority of Australians feel when defenceless animals like Gracie are subjected to such horrific treatment. People like you and I would certainly have tried to stop Gracie from being killed, if given the chance. That’s why I’m asking if you’ll please sign the pledge to report senseless acts of violence against animals. By taking action, witnesses can help rescuers reach suffering animals before it’s too late. Tragically, we can’t bring Gracie back, but we can come together to stop other innocent animals from suffering her same fate. Together, we can help ensure that no act of cruelty goes unnoticed.
