#for Narok guyz Equity-Mara deal returns sour apples, #Narok County losing millions #NarokCounty government is losing millions of shillings as a result of the inability of Equity Bank to effectively collect revenue in Maasai Mara. The controversial 10-year electronic ticketing deal that gave Equity Bank the authority to collect revenue from Maasai Mara on behalf the defunct Narok County is facing systemic challenges or possible corrupt practices. The new county government has reported that the bank has not remitted about Ksh300 million in the last three months. It is also claiming that that the bank’s system is failing and the tourism market is awash with fake smart cards that are being used to enter into the park without payment. #Governor Samuel Ole Tunai has therefore issued a 14-day notice to Equity Bank to remit revenue or quit the deal. He also directed the bank to stop collecting revenue using the smart cards since the system failure is not detecting some of them or unable to finalise transactions. The bank gets a 7% commission from the annual KSh1.5 billion revenue it collects.
