The second heat was kicked off with the first Superstock roll of the season when 4p Chad Ace tumbled over in the first turn melee. 10p Peter Rees hit the front by virtue of spinning 31p Andy McCabe and Robertson in one go, the former having already started the motion. Penn powered past Rees to take another victory, with Ngatai progressing up to third place. Totalling the points saw Penn on top with the maximum 42 points, Ngatai second on 38 and Rees another two points back in third, while Humphries and McCabe were still in touch on 32. Rees hit the front from the outset in the third heat, but the title was thrown wide open when Penn retired early. Dion Mooney jumped in 53v and was immediately a joker in the pack, rolling Humphries with a solid blow into the wall and riding over 71p Shane Mellsop in another incident. Mooneys damaging run was helping Ngatai gain places and points, but as the race came to a close he could not progress any further than fourth. This handed Rees a one point victory over Ngatai, with McCabe completing another consistent night in third overall
