gary shearston wrote a great song"shoppin on a saturday"(in 1945). heres mine"shoppin in2013).had a couple of jam tarts with mum.i then suggested we go for a drive.first stop the bowling club.i always give mum $5 for a flutter on the poker machines.mum won $14,as usual my fiva went into the purse.then mum said are we going home now,i could see on her face,dissapointment if we were.no i said would you like to go up the main street,mum smiled.the kitchen garden cafe was open,i said mum come over,this is where we do MUSIC ON ROUSE.tony the co owner and pie maker extrodanere met mum and said what would you like,the decision was already made,half a cup of tea.....and at this time mum was eyeing off the delicious cakes.tony ,said faye,which one would you like,mum said you choose,out came a berry topped cheesecake.mum made short work of this.thanks tony.we crossed the road next stop is what i call,kerrs botique,a quaint store with ladies and mens fashion.they have also eye catching jewelery.mum spotted a pale blue scarfe,obviously she really liked it.mum is a blue and violet person.i brought it for her.then she picked up a top it was a realspring colour.i asked it be set aside.then i thought mum really does need new shoes as the ones she has are beggining to become slippery.mrs kerr to much time fitting mum and found a practicle,high grip sole ,trendy pair,i thought good,good.we left the store as they hung stunning debutante frocks in the window,ready for the up and coming ball.it was then off to the bellbird cafe to see how their bush lemon and wild grapefruit supply was.looks like im in for ableed in the morning from the spikes.then the tenterfield star office mums favourite publication/definately the biggest fan.mum reads it to the staff and residents over a three day period each week.i said to adrianne at the front office "why did peter petty get his photograph on the front page at the opening of the tennis courts and not with us singing together ,at MUSIC ON ROUSE." adrianne said thats because it the first time weve seen him in shorts."i said its no wonder theres so many unsold copies this week.then we walked to tenterfield pet supplies.belinda and brett are fine people,we looked at rabbits guinea pigs and fish.final stop tenterfield library.mums never been there after 83 years i borrowed the movie" show boat ",then headed to mums care facility............GARY SHEARSTONS GREAT SONG SHOPPING ON A SATURDAY IS AVAILABLE ON HIS WEB SITE...........michael
